Metaphor and allusion
For this poem we had to write a metaphor and then another poem as an allusion. We spent some time talking about the difference between the two and how to tell the difference. Once we had discussed them enough, we wrote our own.
Metaphor and Allusion
You are the apple to my eye
The peanut butter to my jelly
You are my lucky star
The cheese to my macaroni
My adorable sexy manly man
I want to hold your hand
Kiss your lips
And say sweet things to you
And experience them in return
Of course
I want to take you out
Show you off
And go out to dinner with you
'Cause everybody loves Shomars
And it shows
You are the apple to my eye
The peanut butter to my jelly
You are my lucky star
The cheese to my macaroni
My adorable sexy manly man
I want to hold your hand
Kiss your lips
And say sweet things to you
And experience them in return
Of course
I want to take you out
Show you off
And go out to dinner with you
'Cause everybody loves Shomars
And it shows
